Supervisor Bobby Hernandez Shares Fresh Updates as Addison Township’s Community Market Expands
It’s been a long time coming, Addison Township — and Addison Township Supervisor Bobby Hernandez is excited to share some big news.
Beginning Wednesday, August 27th, from 9 AM to 11 AM, the Addison Township Community Market, formerly known as the “Food Pantry,” will officially transition to a client-choice model of operation.
Led by Supervisor Bobby Hernandez, Clerk Maria Vesey, and the Addison Township Board of Trustees, this change means that instead of receiving a pre-packed bag, clients will now have the flexibility and independence to select the items that work best for their households. Whether it’s fresh produce, hygiene products, or daily essentials, this approach helps ensure families receive the goods that truly meet their needs.
The move to a client-choice model is about more than food — it’s about empowering residents, reducing waste, and creating a welcoming, community-focused experience. By listening to the voices of those we serve, Addison Township is making sure the Community Market reflects the unique needs of our neighbors today and in the future.
If you or someone you know requires food assistance, we encourage you to visit our brand new community market, now situated at 401 N. Addison Road, formerly the Addison Township Event Center. Guests can access the market through door 8, and we kindly ask that you follow the signage to guide your entrance.
